Devlog 4: Colourful progres
Introduction
This week we are combining our prototypes into a first look at actual gameplay. While our developers were coding away our artists worked on visuals.
Current progress
Map and splines:
The art team has been cooking
Since our cars will be using splines for movement guiding, we experimented with using rounded corners vs sharp corners.


The layout is based on the 2x2 grid featured in Devlog 3.
Obstacles:
We are in the process of adding new exciting obstacles to the game, here are the ones that are ready to be added.
These are roadblocks that the car will stop for as illustrated in the gif below. More will be added in the future.
Player ragdoll:
Yes you saw that right! the player will now ragdoll when hit by a car!!
Grandma behavior:
Our grandmas now want to stay on the sidewalk and spawn in specific locations.
The fullscreen issue:
We ran into an issue where player 2's controls would get ignored when playing in fullscreen, it's apparently a 6 year old bug of Unreal Engine and the only workaround we could find is to play the game as standalone or packaged.
What now?
We now have every component for the base mechanics of our game and we can finally move into production.
