Devlog 5: The Real Deal
Introduction
This week, we started working on the actual game! Time to make beautiful assets, write clean code and add sound!
Progress
Art
Our artists have been busy cooking up the grandma and player character.
Grandma design and model by Savvas.
Player character design and model by Cui.
We've also updated our buildings' mesh to use a color trim sheet:
New assets for the sidewalk have been added:
We now also have an adjustable shader that takes care of our gradients. This will speed up our production quite a bit.

Gameplay
So far the features we'e implemented are:
- Player movement
- 2 player splitscreen
- Object grabbing and throwing with button mashing
- Player vehicle movement
- Grandma spawning
- Ragdolling
Sound
The level has constant ambience made of chatter and wind that changes over time with a perlin noise.
When a player triggers a button mashing action, a sound plays higher and higher until they reach the limit.
What now?
Now we just have to keep going.
We still haven't implemented every mechanic our prototype had and we need to make rigs and animations for our characters.
As the gameplay comes together, we will add more sounds to create a lush and fun atmosphere.
